What is the cheapest way of moving?

In January I will be moving to Texas from California, and I've been wondering what the cheapest way of moving is. I'll be traveling with just me and my stuff... and I don't have a car to take over. It'd just be the moving truck if I did that... or would it be cheaper to fly over on way and ship stuff over.
